I always feel sad after taking down my Christmas trees and putting away all the twinkling lights.

Instead of putting everything away, I repurpose some of my Christmas decorations to make my home feel cozy until Spring arrives!
I pack away the items that scream “Christmas” and leave out items that whisper “Winter!”
Here are some of my favorite Winter decor ideas!
incorporate winter scenery
A fun way to decorate for the season is to incorporate art with winter scenes.
Rich found this gorgeous picture to put on the picture frame TV.
If you don’t own a picture of winter scenery, frame photos of your family playing in the snow.
Google “free printable winter art” that you can print and add to a frame you already own!
Use Winter elements
Here in Florida, we don’t have Winter weather so I have to think back to what Winter was like in Kentucky!
The four things that come to my mind are snow, wood, evergreens, and pinecones.
So I’m going to incorporate those four elements in my Winter decor!
Snow
I held out a few flocked Christmas decorations to use for the next couple of months!
This flocked wreath was hanging over our TV for Christmas and I decided to leave it in place!
I moved my flocked topiaries from a side table to the TV console table.
I love how they look next to the artwork!
Evergreens and pinecones
Evergreens and pinecones belong together!!
Use faux evergreen stems and display them in planters, pitchers, vases, or bowls!
Then tuck a few pinecones between the evergreen branches!
Hang an evergreen garland over a mirror or drape one on a table or shelf.
Make a wreath out of pinecones to decorate your front door!

Wood
We don’t have a fireplace to burn wood, but I like to use wood elements in my Winter decor!
Decorate a dough bowl!
Use a wooden bowl for a centerpiece on a table!
Bring in Cozy Materials
Winter is the perfect time to use heavier materials in your decor!
It’s time to pull out the wool, faux fur, and velvet!

faux fur
Add the ultimate cozy touch with faux fur pillows!
velvet
I used a lot of velvet bows in my Christmas decor this year, and I tucked a few in here and there in my Winter decor as well!
Velvet pillows are so soft!!
Items made with chunky yarn
I made these cone-shaped trees a couple of years ago!
The chunky yarn says warm and cozy to me!
Am I pushing it here?
I don’t think this looks too much like Christmas, what do you think?
Keep the season bright
As I was saying earlier, I miss my twinkling Christmas trees, so to keep things bright during the darker winter days, I brought in a little more light!
candles
Line up taper candles to add a warm glow to a shelf, mantle, or table!
Add a candle to a vignette on a coffee or end table.
Make a centerpiece with a candle as the main focal point.
Dress up your candle in a homemade cozie!
Incorporate candles in a decorated dough bowl!
lights
Add a small lamp to the room to provide a soft glow!
Place a lamp on your kitchen counter, so you don’t have to use overhead lighting.
Stay warm
Cozy throw blankets are a must for this time of year!
throw blankets
Drape a throw blanket over your furniture!
Tuck throw blankets into baskets!

These are such lovely ideas! I love the wooden dough bowl centerpiece with the candle, evergreens and pine cones. It’s so pretty! I have taken a break from decorating for seasons or holidays in order to reduce the stress and task of changing things out. Before I put a pause to this, I used to love decorating more “winter” like for Christmas so it could just flow over and I would only have to take a few things down after Christmas. Thanks for sharing at Tell It To Me Tuesday, I hope to see you again this week.

Hey there! I totally understand where you’re coming from! We live in Florida, so I like to add cozy touches to make it feel like Winter inside the house, since it doesn’t fee like it outside, lol! Have a great week!

Hi Donna – I always feel a little sad when we put away our Christmas lights too. They create such a magical feeling. I love your ideas for incorporating winter decor ideas that don’t look like Christmas. You have some great tips. My favorite thing to do is to use giant Sugar Pine Tree pinecones and put them in large bowls/dough bowls/baskets etc. You are so fortunate to live in Florida because you will start to see spring in March!!
Donna Allen says
Hi Anna! You are right, Spring will be here in Florida before we know it so I’m going to cherish my Winter decor for as long as possible!
