Hi friends! We were in Florida last week and were planning to post this on October 31st but the internet connection at the campground was horrible, so Happy Halloween late! Heard the weather here was terrible so you might want to start planning now to Trick or Treat next year in the happiest place on earth, at the most fun Halloween Party ever!
Since schools in our area have a Fall break in October, it’s the perfect time to head to Disney World and attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at The Magic Kingdom. We have put together a great guide for you, so start making those plans now to attend this fabulous event next year!

WHAT
For those of you that have never heard of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, it’s a family friendly trick-or-treating event with extra activities and entertainment that are not available during normal park hours. Here are the details:
When
Select nights from August through October from 7pm to midnight. The party lasts for 5 hours but you can access the park as early as 4pm and we highly recommend you do so. That will give you an extra 3 hours to go on a few rides or get something to eat. Go to disneyworld.disney.go.com to get dates for next years party. If the dates are not posted yet keep checking back and they will eventually be out there.
Tickets
This party is a special ticketed event which means it does not require regular park admission. Therefore, the park closes to all guests who attended that day at 6pm and you can not stay unless you buy a ticket specifically for the party. Only 20,000 tickets are available for each party so it is not as crowded as it is during regular park hours. This year tickets ranged from $79-$135 for adults and $75-$130 for kids. Go to Disneyworld.disney.go.com for price of tickets next year!
Rides
You can go on the rides during the entire party but there are so many exclusive activities and entertainment that I don’t suggest you spend your time on the rides. Save that for a regular day at the park or enter the park early to hit your favorites.
We got there at 4:00 so we could hit a few of our favorites!
What to ride during the party
A few of the rides do have special effects only during the party, so they are the only exceptions I would make:
At Haunted Mansion you can see and hear the live ghost bride
At Pirates of the Caribbean, real life pirates interact with people in the queue and on the ride itself.
Space Mountain, is in complete darkness and has a different rock soundtrack, unfortunately it was broken down so we couldn’t ride it.
AT Storybook Circus, young kids can dance along with Disney Junior Characters – we didn’t make it to this one.
The Tea Cups have a new light show with spooky tunes and fog effects! I didn’t ride this one, it literally makes me sick!!
Monsters Inc Laugh Floor is set up as a trick or treat stop and you can sit down, stay awhile, and have a few laughs as the Monsters try to learn about the humans’ Halloween traditions!
Other fun activites
The Scream-O-Ween Dance Party at Rocket Tower Stage With Mike and Sully is tons of fun to watch or you can get out and dance with the characters!
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
This is not a ride, it’s an interactive game that our boys love and they collect the cards that you get when you play. At the party they offer an exclusive card so be sure to pick one up on your way into the park. We don’t suggest playing the game at the party though.
Dressing Up
Costumes are not required but are highly encouraged. Disney does have rules for guests 14 and older so be sure to check those out before planning your costume. Many families do themed costumes and lots of people wear matching Halloween themed t-shirts. We opted for t-shirts this time!
Trick-or-treating
You actually get to trick or treat at 14 different candy stations set up around the park. When you enter you’re given a bag to use and cast members will give you a handful of candy, not just one piece! If you have allergies you get a special blue bag and are given tokens at each candy stop that you can turn in at the end of the night and get a special bag with treats that are safe for allergies you may have.
Halloween specialty treats
Candy isn’t the only treat you can get at this party, there are so many yummy snacks exclusive to this event, here’s a sample of the one’s we tried!
Jack Skellington Cake Push Pop and the Sally push pop, which is gluten free, at the snack cart near Cinderella Castle..
Lots-O-Burger at cosmic Ray’s
Pumpkin Spice Milkshake @ Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies (Gluten Free)
We also couldn’t resist our favorite Dole Whip
Meet and Greets with Characters
There are characters located throughout the park and you can stand in line to get your picture and an autograph if you’d like. Some of the characters are even dressed in Halloween costumes too!
Pooh characters
Jasmine and Alladin
Tarzan characters
Jack Sparrow
Live Entertainment
Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular is a great live show that takes place four times a night on the stage in front of Cinderella’s castle. I really liked it! The sisters of Hocus Pocus are back and stirring up trouble.
Here are the villains that join in on the fun!
PARADE
The Boo To You Parade is one of my favorites! I love how they mix characters from the Haunted Mansion ride into the parade with regular characters!
You have two chances to see this wonderful parade! Get a spot early so you don’t miss the headless horseman who opens the parade!
The Haunted Mansion portion is my favorite part.
FIREWORKS
Disney’s Not So Scary Spooktacular Fireworks Show is a must see, what makes it so great are the projections they show on the castle! Because of that, you want to watch it from Main Street.
If you like Halloween and Disney, you have to make plans to get to this party next year! It’s so much fun for all ages!!
